First things first: common doubts about wedding bands

1) Do the groom’s and the bride’s wedding bands have to match?

The short answer to this question is no. They can match if you want them to, but this is no prerequisite whatsoever to successfully purchasing wedding bands. If the bride and the groom have the same taste, personality, and style and hence a certain wedding band would happen to look amazing on both of them, it would certainly be a great match for them.

But that’s hardly ever the case. Chances are that, as humans, people - and couples - have different tastes, personal preferences, and styles. So more than simply pleasing you, your wedding band should actually be able to truly define you. That’s the safest way to ensure you’ll be happily wearing it for the rest of your life.

2) Are wedding bands supposed to be worn along with the engagement ring?

The answer to that question will depend on the bride’s personal taste and her intention - or not - to wear her wedding band along with her engagement ring. While some brides plan to keep their engagement rings in their jewelry box after marriage, others plan to wear them along with the wedding band.

In that case, they can either wear the engagement ring on top of their wedding band, giving an emphasis to it and to the diamond it contains, or they can wear the wedding band on top of the engagement ring, following the natural order of events.

That’s especially useful to know especially when it comes to choosing the wedding band type, (as it should match the engagement ring in case they’re meant to be worn together) but also when it comes to choosing anniversary wedding bands to celebrate your love in the long run.

 Main types of wedding bands

Diamond wedding bands

A diamond wedding band will get everyone noticing your lover’s finger as it’ll shine bright even from a distance. So, if you love the idea of a sparkly wedding band that will upgrade your lover’s looks no matter what s/he is wearing, then choose the timeless diamond wedding bands.

Gold wedding bands

Gold is the classic choice for wedding bands, both for women and men alike. So if you want to stick to the traditional way of choosing a wedding band, then go for a gold wedding band. Remember, these bands come not only in yellow gold, but also in rose and white gold.

Curved wedding bands

Curved wedding bands, also referred to as notched or V-cut rings, are bands designed with a dip on one side. They look especially good when worn on top of the engagement rings that feature large stones, as they are created with the purpose of fitting on top of them.

That way, there will be no gap nor spaces between the two rings. So, if you know your significant other will be wearing her engagement ring upon marriage, a matching curved wedding band may be perfect for her.

Enhancer wedding bands

This type of wedding band can come in bold, oversized styles and they are perfect for boosting the beauty of the engagement ring. Enhancer wedding bands also commonly feature a lot of tiny diamonds, which creates a gorgeous visual effect and an extra touch of sparkle.
